Editorial: Mitochondrial quality control in cardiovascular diseases

چکیده
Myocardial mitochondria are the primary site of energy metabolism in heart. Thus, maintaining quality plays a vital role cardiovascular diseases. Mitochondrial control (MQC) mainly encompasses regulation mitochondrial dynamics, autophagy, and biogenesis. The pathogenic mechanisms abnormal features diseases remain complex, but understanding them may provide promising potential targets for discovery new diagnostic therapeutic approaches This editorial is collection original research review articles to summarize our current molecular dysfunction explore future directions this area.Oxidative stress cause dysfunction. While small quantities reactive oxygen species (ROS) do not pose harm life activities, excessive accumulation ROS serves as risk factor oxidative stress. Oxidative characterized by inhibition respiratory enzyme activity slowing electron transfer within chain. Consequently, occurs, which, turn, leads more mitochondria, greater damage. A Wang et

Mitochondrial Quality Control in Cardiac Diseases
Disruption of mitochondrial homeostasis is a hallmark of cardiac diseases. Therefore, maintenance of mitochondrial integrity through different surveillance mechanisms is critical for cardiomyocyte survival. In this review, we discuss the most recent findings on the central role of mitochondrial quality control processes including regulation of mitochondrial redox balance, aldehyde metabolism, p...
متن کاملMitochondrial Quality Control: Decommissioning Power Plants in Neurodegenerative Diseases
The cell has an intricate quality control system to protect its mitochondria from oxidative stress. This surveillance system is multi-tiered and comprises molecules that are present inside the mitochondria, in the cytosol, and in other organelles like the nucleus and endoplasmic reticulum. These molecules cross talk with each other and protect the mitochondria from oxidative stress. Oxidative s...
متن کاملMitochondrial dynamics and mitochondrial quality control
Mitochondria are cellular energy powerhouses that play important roles in maintaining cell survival, cell death and cellular metabolic homeostasis. Timely removal of damaged mitochondria via autophagy (mitophagy) is thus critical for cellular homeostasis and function. Mitochondria are reticular organelles that have high plasticity for their dynamic structures and constantly undergo fission and ...
